TRIP TO KIPPURE

Leaving Cert students from Colaiste Eoin ventured to Kippure Education Centre, Ireland’s top provider of Leaving Cert geography school trips to avail of their on-site field studies. The field-studies program is integral to LC geography and is a mandatory second component. It instils a range of vital skills such as surveying, group work, data collection, analysis and report writing.

While here, students undertook a field study of the river Liffey and one of its tributaries, the Athdown Brook, including a study of landforms.

· Measuring River Velocity

· Measuring Cross Sectional Area

· Calculating discharge

· Measuring & Sketching Valley/River Gradient

· Bed load Analysis

· Sinuosity

· Map Work

The students had a great time and learned a lot,hopefully it will assist them in their examinations.
