Generation Apprentice

Coláiste Eoin team are award winners in the 2021 national Generation Apprenticeship competition

Team members Ailbhe Maguire, Aobha Harmon, Grace Hilliard and Maisaa Murad decided to take part in the competition because it was a unique opportunity to improve their problem solving and team building skills. “When first introduced to the project we were interested in the variety of apprenticeships out there. Over the past few months, we witnessed the effects of the coronavirus pandemic globally. Scientists all over the world worked and shared their findings in order to develop vaccines. We saw how ICT, Logistics and Biopharma have worked together and we wanted to show how careers in these sectors can be accessed through apprenticeship. We used many different recycled materials to make our model, including off-cuts of wood from the woodwork room, foam, wire, plastic trays, used pipe cleaners, used biro, plastic and tin trays, netting, aero board, tape, paint, and glue. Our model represents an apprenticeship hub and a meeting place of ideas and people creating an environment to support each other's wellbeing, career wise and socially. We were very happy with our final design and are delighted to have received an award in a national competition."
