Information for Parents:

The onset of Covid-19 has marked a very challenging time for all our school community- our students, our parents, our teachers and school staff. I wish to acknowledge the mental fortitude and strong resilience shown by everyone associated with Coláiste Eoin and to highlight our determination as a school to overcome any obstacles that may be placed in our way by this pandemic. We have a very progressive school with highly skilled and experienced teachers that put the students at the centre of everything that we do and we will guide our students through this difficult period.

The following section aims to provide information for all our stakeholders in relation to end of year arrangements for students.

1st Year, 2nd Year, TY’s and 5th Years:

All students in the above year groups will receive an end of year report on VS Ware as they normally would. Teachers will be assessing this cohort of students over the next two weeks based on activities completed during the school year.

3rd Years:

As we are all aware at this point in time, the Junior Cycle Exams have been cancelled. The Department of Education and Skills will send out a Certificate to every 3rd Year student detailing that they have completed the Junior Cycle.

In addition to this, a school report will also be issued by the school to our 3rd Year students on VS Ware. It is important to note that this report is not a Junior Certificate report, this is an end of year report. This report will take into account how students have performed in previous exams such as mocks and Christmas House Examinations etc. We will also look at project work, class tests, assignments, classwork, engagement and so on. This school report will focus on work completed before the 12th of March 2020.

TY Students:

As a school we understand the frustration that TY students are feeling. Missing out on the school tour to Italy was hugely disappointing along with the many other TY activities, modules and trips that had been scheduled to take place. We have a great deal of empathy for students here and are looking into the possibility of a tour for this group of students during the next academic year if it is safe to do so.

Incoming First Year Students:

The school has been in contact with all parents of incoming first year students with regard to uniform, subject choices, etc. We will continue to communicate with parents throughout the summer to provide further information as we plan ahead for the 2020-2021 academic year.
