Reopening Summary for Parents

*Please take time to read this carefully. If you have any queries please contact the school.

  • School will start at 8.50am and end at 3.50pm. Students enter through their assigned door and go straight to base classrooms.
  • If you need to pick your child up from school during the day, please call beforehand.
  • If you need to drop anything into the school, please phone the office beforehand.
  • If you wish to speak with a member of staff in person, please make an appointment by phoning the office first
  • There will be hand sanitiser outside all toilets.
  • There will be hand sanitiser in every classroom.
  • All students are encouraged to carry their own hand sanitiser also.
  • With the high use of hand sanitiser which can cause skin irritations, students are encouraged to use barrier creams such as moisturiser or aloe vera to protect their hands.
  • Everyone will be required to sanitise their hands on entering and leaving a classroom.
  • Students will sanitise their seat and desk at the end of each class under the supervision of the teacher.
  • Desks have been arranged to keep students 1m apart.
  • Students cannot share materials with other students.
  • Students will be encouraged to wash their hands regularly, socially distance from each other and wear a face covering as required.
  • All students are expected to follow government guidelines on good respiratory and hand hygiene.
  • Training will be provided for students on this.
  • Everyone will be required to wear a face covering on arrival to school in September.
  • A visor and set of five reusable face coverings will be given to each student on the return to school. The reusable face covering and visor must be cleaned each day after school. If students lose or damage the face coverings provided by the school they must then purchase/supply their own replacement face coverings.
  • Everyone will always be required to wear a face covering while on the corridors.
  • Everyone will be required to wear face coverings in classes. Signs are placed around the school giving guidance on this.
  • Students who are unable to wear a face covering due to medical reasons may wear a face visor.
  • If there are exceptional circumstances due to a medical condition, please contact the school in relation to this.
  • A one-way system will be in place to direct students around the school safely. Signage will give clear guidance to students.
  • A maximum of two students will be permitted to use the bathrooms at any time.
  • There can be no group gathering in toilets.
  • Lockers will not be accessible to students.
  • Training from the DES will be available to all staff members.
  • The school will undergo a deep clean at the end of each day.
  • Extra-curricular activities will be rolled out over a period of time with evening study for students being a priority at first.
  • Students may wear their PE uniform on the day they have PE. If PE is timetabled in the morning classes, they arrive to school in PE gear and can change into their school uniform at lunchtime. The same applies if PE is timetabled for the afternoon classes. They can change into PE gear at lunchtime. Parents are encouraged to wash the school uniform regularly.
  • Break and Lunch Times-10:50am-11:05am (Morning Break) and 1:05pm-1:50pm (Lunch time).
  • Each year group will have a specific recreational zone/area at break and lunch times.
  • There will be no access to the school shop or school servery for students. No food will be provided in the school.
  • Students should bring a healthy packed lunch with flask for hot drink and/or bottle for cold drink.
  • There will be no access for students to water stations due to Covid 19 restrictions.
  • Senior and Junior Students may NOT mix at break and lunchtimes.
  • Senior students may leave the school grounds at lunch time.
  • Junior students are not permitted to leave the school grounds at lunch time.
  • In terms of social distancing, all students must keep a minimum 1 metre distance at all times.
  • There will be NO:
  • Hand Shakes
  • High Fives
  • Hugging
  • Fist Bumps etc.
  • This is a key area within our Code of Behaviour and all of these measures are in place to keep all people safe within our school community.
  • Students must be kept at home if they are exhibiting any of the Covid-19 symptoms or feeling unwell in general.
  • Students should stay at home and quarantine if they have returned from a country not on the green list.
  • If a student is showing symptoms, they will be brought to an isolation room and a parent will be contacted. The parent will need to phone the GP for further advice.

There are a lot of new measures which have been put in place this year as a response to Covid-19. These measures are to keep our students, staff, parents and all members of the school community safe.
